FNB Fox Valley Sponsors Second-Annual Non-Profit Oshkosh Money Conference

Oshkosh, Wis. (February 19, 2014) - First National Bank – Fox Valley (FNB Fox Valley), Asset Builders, and many other sponsors and community partners will kick off National Money Smart Week by presenting the second-annual Oshkosh Money Conference on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Oshkosh West High School.  Registration and continental breakfast begin at 7:30 am, with the program lasting from 8:30 until 1:30.

The Conference is a nonprofit event and is a great opportunity for area residents to learn personal finance basics.  There is no selling or pressure to buy anything – the goal of the Conference is to teach participants how to improve their finances.  Richard Entenmann of Asset Builders said, “The Conference offers high-quality education in an unbiased and fun atmosphere.  Things that people learn here can have substantial “pocket-book” results in the short term, and can set people up to reach higher net worth and income levels in the future.”

The luncheon general session will feature a fun, interactive, and educational quiz contest, with fabulous prizes!  Conference-goers will participate in a friendly competition that will underscore the education they’ve received during their morning classes.  Popular radio host Nikki Peterson, of 95.9 KISS FM radio, is the celebrity quizmaster.

The Conference features 18 separate workshops for adults, on topics such as How to Read Your Credit Report and Improve Your Credit Score, Budgeting Basics – How to Have More Money than Month for a Change, How to Buy a Used Car Without Getting Taken for a Ride, Love and Money – a Relationship Challenge, and How to Feed Your Family Good Food Without Going Broke. FNB’s Kathy Blumreich and Stacey Milligan will be teaching in two of these workshops, and other FNB volunteers will be helping with one on one credit report reviews.  The Conference features age-appropriate classes for students beginning at age 6 and also includes:

- The Big Read for families with young children– free copy of Curious George Saves His Pennies for the first 50 participants

- Free childcare for children between the ages of 2 and 6 (call to reserve space)

- Continental breakfast and lunch

- A free copy of each participant’s credit report

- Door prizes throughout the day

Advance registration is $2.00 for adults and free for youth between the ages of 6 and 18.  Registration at the door is $4.00 for adults and $1.00 for youth between the ages of 6 and 18.  Scholarships are available.
